Educational, behavioural & functional assessments

See the whole child, in clear, usable terms.

Vineland, ABAS, Conners, BASC and academic assessments, run by a Highly Accomplished Lead Teacher in Darwin. You get a plain-language report built from the people who know your child best, ready to share with school and other professionals.

Informative, not diagnostic. My reports describe how your child is functioning and give you the data. They do not diagnose a condition.

About the Collective

Assessment from someone who has taught the kids.

The Assessment Collective is run by a Highly Accomplished Lead Teacher (nationally accredited) and Senior Teacher of Special Education with the Department of Education in Darwin. I have worked in classrooms since 2013 and in a school leadership team since 2021, supporting students from Preschool to Year 6.

I am Level B qualified through Pearson Clinical. That means I can administer and interpret the measures I offer and write up the results for families. It also means I cannot diagnose, and I will always say so clearly. You receive organised information that helps you talk with your school, GP or specialist.

What it looks at

Good to know

Scope of practice

What I can and cannot do

Pearson Clinical sorts its assessments into user levels A, B and C according to the training needed to use them. The Vineland-3, ABAS-3, Conners 4, BASC-4 and WIAT are Level B assessments, and I hold Pearson User Level B.

What I do

  • Administer, score and interpret Level B assessments
  • Gather history from parents, teachers and students
  • Write informative reports with scores explained in plain language
  • Suggest next steps, including when another professional may help
  • Write behaviour support and learning plans from the results

What I do not do

  • Diagnose conditions such as ADHD, autism, intellectual disability or a learning disorder
  • Use Level C assessments, which Pearson restricts to registered psychologists and provisional psychologists under direct supervision
  • Replace an assessment by a psychologist, paediatrician or other specialist when a diagnosis is needed
  • Guarantee that another organisation will accept my report for a particular purpose

A diagnosis is a team effort

A diagnosis is always supported by a multidisciplinary team. This may include a psychologist, paediatrician, occupational therapist, speech pathologist, your child's school and, most importantly, your family.

My results give you clear information to share with these professionals to support your child. They are one important piece of the picture, gathered from home and school, and they can help the team decide what to look at next.

What I offer

From first chat to finished report

Every assessment follows the same five steps, so nothing is missed and everyone gets a voice.

  1. Parent consult

A relaxed conversation about your child and what brought you here.

    Family historySchool historyYour concernsFamily dynamics
  2. Parent questionnaire

You describe your child's skills at home. Complete it with me in person, or I can email it to fill in when it suits you.

  3. Student questionnaire

Your child shares their own view. Where it helps, I run this as a short, friendly interview instead of a form.

  4. Teacher questionnaire and interview

Your child's teacher completes a questionnaire and talks with me, so the report reflects school as well as home.

  5. Your report

I bring everything together into an informative written report with the assessment data, explained in plain language. I can also turn it into behaviour support and learning plans.

What your report is

  • A clear picture of strengths and support needs
  • Scores and data you can keep
  • A summary of what parents, teacher and student said
  • Information to share with school or other professionals

What it is not

  • A diagnosis of any condition

After the assessment

Turning results into support

A report is most useful when it leads to a plan. I can write plans that use your child's assessment results and fit in with what the school already does.

Behaviour support plans

A clear, practical plan for home and school. It sets out what helps, what to try and who does what, based on what the assessment found.

Educational Adjustment Plans

I link the results to your child's school Educational Adjustment Plan, so the adjustments at school and the behaviour support plan fit together.

Learning plans

Goals and classroom strategies built around your child's strengths and support needs, shared with parents and teachers.

Behaviour Support Plan: $650 AUD including GST. Educational Adjustment Plans and learning plans are priced on request. Choose "Support plans" in the booking form and I will get in touch.

Common questions

Before you book

Will my child receive a diagnosis?

No. I am qualified to administer and interpret adaptive behaviour measures at Level B, but I cannot diagnose. If you are seeking a diagnosis, a registered psychologist, paediatrician or other specialist is the right next step, and my report can support that conversation.

Who is this for?

Families and schools who want to understand how a student manages everyday skills, and where they might need support. Tell me your child's age and year level when you book and I will confirm that the right tools are available.

Does my child have to sit a test?

Vineland, ABAS, Conners and BASC are completed mostly by the adults who know your child, so there is usually no test-style session. Your child takes part through a short questionnaire or interview if it helps. The WIAT is different: it involves direct testing with your child.

How do the consult and questionnaires work?

The parent consult is a conversation, held in person or via Zoom by appointment. The parent questionnaire can be done in person or emailed to you. Teachers complete a questionnaire and a short interview.

What is Pearson User Level B?

Pearson Clinical classifies its assessments as Level A, B or C. Level B can be reached through a relevant degree with formal assessment training, professional registration or membership, or Pearson's User Level B course. Level C is for registered psychologists and provisional psychologists under direct supervision. Pearson also expects every user to work only with tests they are trained to use.

Can I claim a Medicare, private health or NDIS rebate?

Not at this stage. My services are not currently eligible for Medicare, private health insurance or NDIS rebates, so fees are paid directly to The Assessment Collective. A tax invoice is available for every payment.

How long until I receive the report?

I finalise your report within 14 days of the last questionnaire being completed.

Can I share the report with my child's school or doctor?

Yes, the report is yours to share. Whether another organisation accepts it for a particular purpose is up to them, so it is worth asking them what they need before you book.

How much does it cost?

Each assessment and package has its own price, shown in the assessments section above. All prices are in AUD and include GST. Payment is 50% up front to secure your booking and 50% before your report is passed on. Send an enquiry and I will confirm the right option for your family.

How I handle your information

Last updated 5 November 2026

1. About this policy

This policy explains how The Assessment Collective ("I", "my") collects, uses, stores and shares personal information. I handle personal information in line with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles. My work involves information about a person's health, development and wellbeing, so I treat everything I collect as sensitive information.

2. What I collect

  • Contact details for parents and carers, teachers and other professionals
  • Your child's name, date of birth, age, school and year level
  • Health, development, learning, behaviour, emotional wellbeing and family information, from consults, questionnaires and interviews
  • Responses from teachers and, where suitable, from your child
  • Assessment results, scores, reports and plans
  • Records of bookings, communication, invoices and payments

3. How I collect it

I collect information directly from you, in person, by Zoom, by email and through the forms on this website. With your consent I also collect information from your child's teacher or school and from other professionals you nominate. Schools can also refer a student to me, and I ask the school to confirm that the parent or carer knows about the referral. Your child's views are gathered in an age-appropriate way. I only collect sensitive information with consent.

4. Why I collect it

I collect information to carry out assessments, write reports and plans, communicate with you, manage bookings and payments, and meet my legal and professional obligations. I do not sell personal information, and I do not use it for direct marketing without your consent.

5. Children and consent

An assessment of a child goes ahead only with the consent of a parent or carer who has parental responsibility. In shared-care or separated families I may ask who holds parental responsibility and whether any orders affect consent. I explain what is happening to your child in a way that suits their age.

6. Who I share it with

I share information only with your consent, for example with your child's teacher to request questionnaires, or with a paediatrician or other professional you nominate. Your final report goes to you first.

I also use service providers for email, video meetings such as Zoom, secure storage, assessment scoring platforms such as Pearson's Q-global, and invoicing. They receive only what is needed for me to provide the service.

I may share information without consent only where the law requires or allows it, where there is a serious threat to someone's life, health or safety, or to make a child protection report. In the Northern Territory, adults have legal duties to report harm to a child.

7. Overseas storage and this website

Some service providers, such as email, video, cloud storage and scoring platforms, may store or process information outside Australia. I take reasonable steps to choose reputable providers. This website loads fonts from Google Fonts, which may receive your device's IP address. I do not add analytics or advertising trackers to this website.

8. Keeping your information safe

I take reasonable steps to protect personal information from misuse, loss and unauthorised access, such as using password-protected devices and accounts and limiting who can see records. When you submit a form on this website, it is sent to my Google Workspace account, where it is emailed to me and saved in a private spreadsheet that only I can open. Email and website forms are not fully secure. If you prefer, share sensitive details in person or by Zoom instead of writing them in a form or email.

If a data breach is likely to cause serious harm, I will notify the people affected and the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner, as the Notifiable Data Breaches scheme requires.

9. How long I keep it

I keep records for as long as I need them to provide my service and to meet legal and professional requirements. For a child, this is generally until the child turns 25. After that, records are securely destroyed or de-identified.

10. Access and correction

You can ask to see the personal information I hold about you or your child, and ask me to correct it. I will respond within 30 days. I may charge a reasonable fee for providing access, and in limited situations the law allows me to refuse, in which case I will explain why.

11. Anonymity

You can ask general questions without giving your name. I need your details to carry out an assessment.

12. Complaints

If you have a privacy concern, please contact me first and I will respond within 30 days. If you are not satisfied, you can complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au or on 1300 363 992.

13. Changes and contact

I may update this policy from time to time. The latest version is always on this page. To contact me about privacy, email .
